Amidst the tranquil setting of the University of Georgia, a unique event aims to transform instruments of destruction into tools for growth. Known as Guns2Gardens, this initiative is organized by The Table, a campus ministry, and is scheduled for March 28th.
The Table, which caters to around 100 university students, is collaborating with RawTools South, a group specializing in blacksmithing, to creatively repurpose firearms into gardening tools. This event represents a powerful symbol of faith and renewal for many involved.
Haley Lerner, who serves as the campus minister for The Table and holds ordination with the United Church of Christ, discussed the spiritual and communal significance of this event with WUGA’s Emma Auer. Their exchange provides insight into how the Guns2Gardens initiative aligns with their religious convictions and community service.
