On what seemed like a typical day, Clinton Carawan, Vada’s father, unexpectedly suffered cardiac arrest and collapsed. Demonstrating remarkable presence of mind, Vada immediately reached out to emergency services for help.

“I told (the dispatcher) that my dad fell back. He’s trying to gasp for air,” she recalled.

Displaying the skills she had acquired less than two weeks prior, Vada began performing chest compressions, a vital maneuver that maintained her father’s life until medical professionals arrived on the scene.

Thanks to Vada’s prompt response and training, Clinton was able to make a full recovery. Reflecting on the incident, he expressed deep gratitude and emotional gratitude for his daughter’s quick actions.

“I tear up thinking about it every time. It’s amazing. I just, I can’t believe it, to be honest with you,” he said.
