Georgia Congressional Luncheon Highlights Gubernatorial Race

The 2026 Georgia Congressional Luncheon, held at the Classic Center in downtown Athens, drew attention with its lineup of political figures and business leaders. Among the highlights were remarks from gubernatorial candidates Keisha Lance Bottoms and Rick Jackson, as well as a notable endorsement from Governor Brian Kemp.

Governor Brian Kemp, in one of his first joint appearances with Rick Jackson, expressed strong support for Jackson’s gubernatorial campaign. Kemp stated, “It’s an honor for me to be here with Rick Jackson in support of his campaign for governor.” He reflected on his own beginnings in Athens, where he started a small business, and cited Jackson’s resilience through challenging times as a key reason for his endorsement.

Rick Jackson, in turn, acknowledged Governor Kemp’s achievements and expressed his intent to build upon them. “Thank you, Governor Kemp,” Jackson said. “I’m going to continue on what he has done with an unbelievable foundation. Obviously to keep cutting taxes, and property taxes. Freeze and reduce property taxes. I’m going to try to beat his record on putting together the most jobs, what he’s done in the rural areas.”

The event provided a platform for other speakers as well, with WUGA promising more coverage from the luncheon.
