Georgia Public Service Commission Election: Last Chance to Vote Tomorrow

Voting for Public Service Commission ends tomorrow

Georgia Public Service Commission Election Nears Final Vote

Georgia residents have one last opportunity to cast their votes for the Public Service Commission, with the election concluding tomorrow. This race is crucial as two of the seats are highly contested.

Currently, Republicans Tim Echols and Fitz Johnson hold these seats and are seeking re-election. They face challenges from Democratic candidates Alicia Johnson and Peter Hubbard. The outcome of this election will influence the regulation of major for-profit utility companies, especially regarding rate changes for consumers.

In June’s partisan primary races, Tim Echols, Fitz Johnson, and Alicia Johnson emerged as clear winners. Following this, Peter Hubbard secured his candidacy by winning a July runoff election with 58% of the vote against another Democratic contender.

Voter turnout in Athens-Clarke County during the Public Service Commission primaries was less than 3,000. However, the general election is seeing increased participation, with over 7,000 ballots submitted just last Thursday.
