Leadership Transition at University of Georgia’s Graduate School
The University of Georgia (UGA) is experiencing new leadership dynamics as Dr. Anne Shaffer has been appointed as the interim dean of the Graduate School. This transition follows Dr. Ron Walcott’s move to serve as UGA’s interim senior vice president for academic affairs and provost.
The leadership adjustments were prompted by Dr. Benjamin Ayers’ decision to take on the presidency at Clemson University. Dr. Shaffer, who has been a part of the UGA community since 2008 and joined the Graduate School in 2021, is well-prepared for her new role. Her background as a licensed clinical psychologist and researcher has been instrumental in initiating programs aimed at enhancing graduate student well-being and academic performance.
Dr. Walcott, the former dean of the Graduate School, expressed confidence in Dr. Shaffer’s capabilities to lead. “I am confident in Dr. Shaffer’s leadership,” he stated, underscoring his trust in her ability to uphold the school’s standards and drive future success.
