Deadline Approaches for Athens-Clarke County Affordable Housing Funding Applications

As the deadline looms, nonprofit organizations and private developers in Athens-Clarke County are gearing up to submit their applications for the SPLOST affordable housing funds. This initiative offers $2.7 million to support projects aimed at enhancing affordable housing in the region.

The SPLOST funds are designated for the construction of crucial public infrastructure that supports affordable housing developments. This includes projects such as building public roads, sidewalks, water lines, sewer systems, and stormwater facilities.

With grants ranging from $1 million to the full $2.7 million, organizations have the flexibility to propose multiple projects for consideration. To participate, applications must be submitted electronically by midnight through the ACCGov Dropoff Portal.

For those opting to submit their applications in person, the deadline is 4:45 PM at the Costa Building, located at 133 E. Washington Street, Athens, GA 30601. Upon arrival at the Costa lobby, applicants should use the provided phone to contact the Housing & Community Development department, whose staff will come to receive the submissions.
