Deadline Approaches for Georgia Voter Registration Ahead of Primary

Georgia voter registration deadline arrives ahead of May primary elections

Deadline Approaches for Georgia Voter Registration

Georgia residents are being reminded of the quickly approaching deadline to register for the state’s upcoming primary election. By April 20th, individuals must ensure they are registered or have updated their voter information to participate in the May 19th primary and nonpartisan elections.

This primary is pivotal as it will establish party candidates for significant races that will be contested in the November general election, encompassing both statewide roles and local positions. Those who do not meet the registration deadline will be ineligible to vote in the primary but can still sign up to vote in subsequent elections.

Potential voters in Georgia have the flexibility to register online, send their application by mail, or visit registration locations in person, as long as they meet the deadline requirements. According to Georgia state law, voter registration must be completed at least 30 days before any election.

For those already registered, early voting for the May primary begins on April 27, providing additional chances to vote before the official Election Day.
