The Revival of Athens’ Local Emergency Planning Committee
After a hiatus since 2019, the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) in Athens is set to reconvene. This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing the community’s emergency preparedness. To explore the purpose and importance of the LEPC, WUGA’s Havivah Saltz interviewed Meredith Barnum, the Emergency Planning Director for Athens-Clarke County.
The newly reformed committee is scheduled to hold its inaugural meeting on August 20th, from 3 to 4 p.m. at 120 Doughtery Street. This meeting will be a pivotal moment for stakeholders and community members to engage in discussions on emergency planning and response strategies.
