Athens Residents Invited to Weigh In on New Transit Plan at Open House

ACC Transit to Hold Public Open House for Feedback on Transit Plan

Athens Residents Invited to Shape Future of Public Transit

The Athens-Clarke County community is being called upon to contribute their thoughts on the latest transit plan. A public open house event will take place on Wednesday, providing an opportunity for residents to engage with the Transit Department. This drop-in session is scheduled from 3 pm to 6 pm at the ACC Multimodal Center located on East Broad Street.

Randy Brown, the Assistant Director of Public Transportation, outlines what attendees can expect from the event. “There will be a team of staff there with the plan being presented,” Brown said. “We’re there for assistance for collecting your feedback, for answering any questions you may have, and for sharing how excited we are about the future of public transit in Athens.”

The five-year transit plan highlights the transportation priorities for the area, focusing on operational changes, capital improvements, and necessary investments to meet evolving transit needs.

Brown encourages community involvement, stating, “I am hopeful that other folks in our community, that are engaged and connected with this public process, see the value in the service that we offer to the community, take the time to engage with the plan and review it and take some time to offer your support, your critique, your awareness of it.”

The Athens Transit Development Plan is set to be adopted by ACC commissioners in their upcoming meeting on April 1st. For those unable to attend the open house, further information and the opportunity to review and comment on the draft plan are available online.
