Multi-Agency Drug Operation in Athens Yields Arrests and Seizures
In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, law enforcement agents conducted coordinated raids in Athens, leading to the arrest of three men and the confiscation of various illegal items. The coordinated effort, which involved multiple agencies, took place last Friday, targeting two specific locations within the city.
Authorities reported the confiscation of seven firearms, 1.5 pounds of marijuana, and a substantial sum of $17,339 in cash. These items were recovered from properties situated in the 200 block of Rocksprings Court and the 100 block of Madison Avenue.
The individuals apprehended in connection with this operation are Jaylen Brown, aged 22, Tedero Phillips, aged 21, and Doukyius Clark, aged 19, all residents of Athens. They face multiple charges, including violations of the Georgia Street Gang Act, possession of firearms during the commission of a felony, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, particularly in public housing areas.
The extent of the investigation remains unclear, as authorities have not disclosed whether they are pursuing additional suspects. This operation was spearheaded by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department Gang Unit, with collaboration from the Northeast Georgia Regional Drug Task Force, supported by the department’s K-9 Unit and Strategic Response Team.
