Athens-Clarke County Prepares for Winter Chill with Shelter Resources
As the temperature in Athens-Clarke County begins to drop, the ACC Government is taking proactive steps to ensure residents have access to warmth and shelter. With the arrival of colder weather, various emergency shelter options have been made available for those in need.
Several organizations are stepping up to provide refuge from the cold. Among these are the Bigger Vision of Athens, Salvation Army, Athens Area Homeless Shelter, and Family Promise of Athens. Additionally, a temporary warming tent will be set up at Lay Park for the next two days, offering immediate relief to those seeking warmth.
In anticipation of severe weather conditions, the ACC Government may also open additional temporary shelters at private venues or their own facilities. This is part of their commitment to safeguarding the community during periods of extreme cold.
