$2.3M in Funding Available for Community and Housing Development

$2.3 million in available Housing and Community Development funds expected for 2028, ACCGov announces

The city is gearing up for significant community development efforts, offering a substantial pool of funds aimed at revitalizing neighborhoods and enhancing housing opportunities. This initiative is set to distribute more than $2 million in combined local and federal funding to support various community projects and housing assistance programs.

Funding Details

The Housing and Community Development Department is allocating approximately $1.1 million from local sources via the Community Partnerships Program and Housing Counseling Programs. In addition, an anticipated $1.2 million is expected to come from the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), courtesy of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The Community Partnerships Program itself is set to channel up to $1 million towards efforts in neighborhood revitalization, poverty alleviation, economic development, and services for the homeless. An additional $100,000 is dedicated to providing housing counseling for both renters and homeowners.

Utilization of CDBG Funds

The federal funds from the CDBG may be utilized to enhance affordable housing options, boost economic development, provide public services, and improve community facilities.

Application Process

Organizations that meet eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply for these funds through a competitive process, starting from October 8 and ending on November 20, 2026. To facilitate this, a virtual informational meeting is scheduled for October 8 at 9 a.m. Those interested can obtain more details from the county’s Housing and Community Development Department.
