Former Police Investigator Among Those Arrested in Child Abuse Case

A disturbing child abuse case in Franklin County has led to the arrest of three individuals, including a former law enforcement officer. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has taken decisive action, charging several individuals with serious offenses.

On May 18, the GBI arrested 18-year-old Chasen Gipson, alongside 54-year-old Wendi Gipson and 52-year-old William Gipson. Chasen faces charges related to the attempted creation of child sexual abuse material, invasion of privacy, and child molestation.

Meanwhile, William and Wendi Gipson are charged with tampering with evidence and second-degree cruelty to children. Notably, William Gipson, who was previously serving as an investigator with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, was terminated from his position following his arrest.

All three suspects have been detained at the Franklin County Jail as the investigation continues. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. The GBI Regional Investigative Office in Athens can be reached at (706) 552-2309 for tips related to this case.
