Clarke County Educator Nominated for Prestigious State Award
An elementary school teacher from Clarke County is poised to potentially make history. Timothy Pritchett, who teaches third grade at Barnett Shoals Elementary School, has been named the Clarke County School District’s Teacher of the Year for 2025-26. Now, he is in the running for an even greater accolade: the 2026-27 Georgia Teacher of the Year.
The announcement was a delightful surprise for Pritchett, delivered by State School Superintendent Richard Woods during a classroom visit on Thursday, March 19. If Pritchett secures the title, he will become the first educator from Clarke County to win the prestigious award, which has a history spanning more than five decades.
A total of 10 educators have been selected as finalists for the state award. These individuals will be celebrated in a special reception set for May, where the ultimate winner will be revealed.
