A Week of Milestones for Husker Star Jordy Frahm
In an eventful week for Nebraska’s softball community, Jordy Frahm, a graduating senior and standout pitcher, has made headlines both on and off the field. Frahm nearly achieved a no-hitter during the College World Series last Sunday, announced her pregnancy, and revealed her new role as an assistant coach for the Nebraska softball team.
Frahm’s appointment to the coaching staff was confirmed by Husker Athletics on Friday. Her diverse experience as a pitcher, fielder, and hitter will see her undertake various coaching responsibilities. “I am beyond excited to join the Nebraska softball coaching staff,” Frahm expressed in a news release. “Playing softball for the Huskers was an incredible blessing to me, and the coaches had a huge impact on me as an athlete and as a person. I am ready to have that impact on others and continue to grow the game in my home state.”
Frahm’s gratitude extends to head coach Rhonda Revelle, who has entrusted her with this new role. A graduate of Papillion La Vista, Frahm holds multiple school records in pitching and hitting. Her national acclaim includes being the only player to have achieved at least 20 home runs and 20 wins as a pitcher in two separate seasons.
Coach Revelle expressed her enthusiasm about Frahm’s return to the team in a different capacity. “We will lean into her competitive spirit, her keen eye for talent and her softball IQ as we continue to strive for excellence,” Revelle stated in the release. “Jordy loves Nebraska and the Red Team, and she is a perfect addition to our coaching staff.”
The announcement follows Nebraska’s challenging loss to Texas in the Women’s College World Series on Sunday. Despite the defeat, the team celebrated its most successful season in history with a total of 52 wins. The week also marked the retirement of pitching coach Lori Sippel, who dedicated 37 years to the program.
