French Delegation Explores Educational Collaboration at University of Georgia
The University of Georgia recently welcomed a high-profile visit from the Consul General of France in Atlanta, aiming to deepen educational ties between France and the U.S. institution. The visit highlighted the potential for collaboration in academics and research.
Anne-Laure Desjonquères, who serves as the Consul General, led a team of French diplomats in discussions with various departments at the university. Desjonquères expressed a keen interest in encouraging UGA students to pursue studies in France while also fostering joint educational programs in Athens.
“We love to celebrate the 250th anniversary of independence where France played a big role–that’s the basis of our historic alliance with the US,” said Desjonquères. She emphasized the importance of developing research partnerships on topics of mutual interest.
Moreover, the Consul General aimed to raise awareness about the Lafayette Fellowship, an initiative by French President Emmanuel Macron. This scholarship offers American graduate students the opportunity to spend a year studying in France, with no French language requirement for applicants.
