Leadership Changes in Forsyth County: New Appointments and Interim Commissioner
Forsyth County is seeing a shift in its leadership as new appointments are made within the Board of Commissioners. In a special meeting held on Monday, the board elected new leaders and welcomed an interim commissioner.
Gloria Whisenhunt has been appointed as the new chair of the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners, with Gray Wilson stepping into the role of vice chair. Both Whisenhunt and Wilson are affiliated with the Republican Party, marking a continuation of the party’s leadership on the board.
Alongside these appointments, Chris Parker was sworn in as the interim Commissioner. Parker, who was chosen by the Forsyth County Republican Party, is stepping in to fill the vacancy left by the former chair, Don Martin. Parker will serve in this capacity until the winners of the upcoming November election are officially sworn in.
Chris Parker brings substantial experience to his new role as interim Commissioner. Previously, he led the county utilities commission and is currently a member of the board of trustees for Forsyth Technical Community College. Additionally, Parker is a candidate in the race for a commissioner seat in District B.
These changes come as Forsyth County navigates its leadership dynamics ahead of the November elections, with the new appointments aimed at maintaining continuity and effectiveness within the Board of Commissioners.
