Voices of the Staff Engage in Community Service
In a show of community spirit, the University of Michigan’s Voices of the Staff program members recently participated in a volunteer day at Camp North Star Reach, located in Pinckney. The event, marking the second “Half Day of Service” for the program, was aimed at preparing the camp—which offers no-cost outdoor activities for children with medical challenges—for its season opening in June. Nearly 50 staff members contributed by engaging in activities such as cleaning, weeding, and painting within the camp grounds. This initiative underscores the program’s commitment to employee engagement and operational improvement at the university.
U-M Undertakes ERP System Modernization
The University of Michigan has embarked on a significant project to update its core administrative systems. This multi-year initiative aims to replace the legacy Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, notably M-Pathways, with a contemporary cloud-based solution. The existing system, which manages various university functions, has been in use for over twenty years and is becoming increasingly costly and complex to maintain. The transition to a modern ERP platform is expected to streamline processes, enhance data access, and decrease the maintenance burden. ERP vendors will demonstrate their systems during sessions in the weeks of June 15 and June 22. These hybrid sessions invite participation from all university campuses and Michigan Medicine, allowing attendees to explore system functionalities and provide feedback. Applications Open for MHealthy Champions
The MHealthy program is seeking new champions committed to promoting workplace wellness. Open to all active, benefits-eligible employees, applications will be accepted until July 31. “MHealthy Champions directly improve individual, team and university well-being, enhance work environments and enrich our communities,” remarked Karen Schmidt, the senior director of Health and Well-being Services at MHealthy. As part of the program, champions dedicate one to two hours monthly over a two-year period to collaborate with MHealthy on activities tailored to their departments, support wellness goals, and encourage participation in health-focused programs.
