Join MI ATHENA’s ‘Books & Lady Bosses’ Club for Inspiring Reads

Welcome to Books & Lady Bosses: MI ATHENA’s Empowering Book Club

The Michigan ATHENA organization has announced a new initiative aimed at fostering community and growth among its members. The initiative, titled “Books & Lady Bosses,” is a quarterly book club designed exclusively for MI ATHENA members. The club will focus on literature that inspires leadership and challenges readers, with discussions centered around thought-provoking themes. The announcement marks a new effort by MI ATHENA to create opportunities for connection and personal development within its community.

The book club will begin with a reading of Jamie Kern Lima’s memoir, Worthy. This book details Lima’s journey as the founder of IT Cosmetics, highlighting themes of perseverance and self-doubt. Members are encouraged to draw lessons of leadership and resilience from the memoir. The club will feature a mix of nonfiction and fiction selections, emphasizing strong female voices or characters.

MI ATHENA will provide weekly primer questions to guide the reading and foster discussions. These questions will be distributed via email and posted in the MI ATHENA Alliance online community. The program aims to create a collaborative environment where members can share insights and connect with one another.

Participants are encouraged to purchase a copy of Worthy from various outlets and join the discussion as the group reads through January. The aim is to use this period for both personal and professional growth. The initiative underscores MI ATHENA’s commitment to building a supportive community of like-minded women.
