Great Falls is experiencing an economic surge, celebrated by local, state, and federal officials. On Friday, Gov. Greg Gianforte, U.S. Rep. Troy Downing, and Mayor Cory Reeves marked the arrival of Amazon and Janicki Industries in Cascade County. This development signifies Great Falls’ growing importance as a business hub, according to Mayor Reeves. “We’re being discovered,” he said.
The new Amazon delivery center represents a $7 million investment, employing 50 full-time staff and hundreds of flex drivers. This 35,000-square-foot “last mile” facility serves as a key connector for the region, delivering to surrounding small communities. Amazon has invested $200 million in Montana since 2010, emphasizing safety and quality jobs.
“Hard-working Montanans deserve good jobs, competitive pay, and real opportunities to grow,” stated Sarah Rose, Amazon’s VP of global health and safety operations.
Economic diversification was highlighted by political and business leaders, with Downing noting the importance of having varied industries in Great Falls. The $800 million Janicki Industries facility at AgriTech Park will span 180 acres and create over 2,000 jobs, enhancing the area’s aerospace engineering sector.
Janicki Industries, known for designing and building tooling for aerospace and defense, chose Great Falls for its business-friendly environment. CEO Peter Janicki cited the community’s readiness and advantageous tax structure. The region’s low housing costs and utility prices also played a role.
Gov. Gianforte emphasized the importance of workforce development, mentioning education tax credits and efforts to bridge education and the marketplace to support Montana’s economic growth.
