Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI), a manufacturer of IT equipment, announced an expansion of its facility in New Bern, Craven County, North Carolina. Governor Josh Stein revealed that the company will create 45 new jobs and invest $11 million in the expansion. This development underscores North Carolina’s growing reputation as a hub for manufacturing and technology. State officials expressed optimism about the economic benefits this investment will bring to the region.
CPI has a long-standing presence as a global manufacturer of infrastructure hardware and equipment for the IT and communication industries. The company, which is entirely employee-owned, specializes in engineering solutions for data centers, enterprise networking, and industrial enclosures. This expansion in New Bern aims to increase production capacity and introduce new product lines, further solidifying its role in the industry.
The new positions will include machine operators, packers, and warehouse staff, with average annual wages expected to reach $50,224, surpassing the Craven County average. The expansion could potentially generate an annual payroll impact of over $2.2 million for the region. A performance-based grant of $100,000 from the One North Carolina Fund will support the expansion, contingent upon job creation and capital investment targets being met.
N.C. Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley highlighted the state’s skilled workforce and innovative leadership as key factors in attracting such investments. Local officials, including N.C. Senator Bob Brinson and Representative Steve Tyson, welcomed the expansion, praising the collaboration between state, regional, and local entities. Additional partners in this project include the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, and other local organizations.
