Officer Shot in Superior, Suspect in Custody

Early Sunday morning, a police officer was shot in Superior, near Superior Middle School, as reported by Northern News Now. Despite the alarming incident, the officer was hospitalized and is currently in stable condition.

Superior’s Mayor, Jim Paine, addressed the situation on Facebook, confirming that the suspect is now in custody and ensuring the public that the area remains secure. His statement praised the timely action of the responding agencies and the bravery of the first officer on the scene. “I’m grateful for the quick response of the many agencies that responded and the tremendous valor of the officer that was first on scene,” stated Mayor Paine.

While the shooting was unrelated to school operations, the Duluth News Tribune noted that the school building suffered “significant damage” due to the incident.
