Holiday Spirit Shines Bright in Downtown Athens Parade
In a vibrant display of holiday cheer, downtown Athens came alive Thursday night as the Downtown Parade of Lights rolled through Clayton Street. This year, the event embraced the festive theme of “Cooking Up a Great Holiday!”
Enthusiastic spectators lined the streets to watch over 90 participating groups make their way along the parade route. Adding to the excitement were appearances by Athens-Clarke County Mayor Kelly Girtz and several ACC Commissioners. Notably, the parade was led by Parade Marshal Peter Dale, an award-winning chef who brought a touch of culinary flair to the proceedings.
