Snoop Dogg Carries the Olympic Torch Before 2024 Paris Games

On Friday, the renowned American rapper Snoop Dogg took part in the Olympic torch relay leading up to the Opening Ceremony in Paris.

Calvin Broadus Jr., known worldwide as Snoop Dogg, walked through the suburb of Saint-Denis in France, proudly holding the lit torch in his left hand. He delighted the crowd by flashing peace signs, waving, and blowing kisses.

Adding to the excitement, Snoop Dogg performed some smooth dance moves in his gilded shoes before handing the flame over to another official.

This event marked a new achievement for Snoop Dogg, as he had never participated in such a ceremony before.

Although he won’t be competing in the Olympic Games, Snoop Dogg will be featured in his new role as a commentator for NBC, his first official year in this position.

He is set to join a team of well-known analysts including Mike Tirico, Kevin Hart, Alex Cooper, and Leslie Jones.

NBC announced that Snoop Dogg will be attending events, interacting with athletes and their families, and exploring notable city landmarks. His insights and experiences will be featured on primetime TV and Peacock.

Broadus expressed his enthusiasm, “It’s going to be a great experience because the way I speak it, you tend to want to pay attention to it because it’s going to be something different, and it’s going to be a little bit more insightful because I have spent time with these athletes and some of their family members as well.”

Already, Snoop Dogg has been actively engaging with American teams. On Wednesday, he joined the American fencing team, holding a saber with them, and had lunch with Team USA’s rugby team. Two days later, he practiced his judo skills on the mats.

Other celebrities who have participated in Olympic events include Pharrell, Serena Williams, Spike Lee, Zendaya, Angel Reese, and Tyla.

Despite his reputation for a different kind of blaze, Snoop Dogg’s participation added a fresh spark to the torch relay, ensuring the Opening Ceremony will proceed with flair.

U.S. tennis star Coco Gauff was the first female flag bearer for the United States in the opening ceremony. She was joined by LeBron James who, together, were voted by fellow U.S. athletes as the two Team USA flag bearers for Friday’s Opening Ceremony.
