Ahold Delhaize USA is making a substantial move by investing $860 million to develop a new distribution center on the East Coast, specifically in Alamance County. This expansion underscores the company’s commitment to bolstering its operations in the region.

The initiative will bring about 120 jobs to Guilford County, with projections for more than 500 positions to emerge at the Burlington location in Alamance. The local payrolls are anticipated to see an increase of over $10.7 million annually, according to the company’s press release.

Among the brands under Ahold Delhaize USA are well-known grocery chains such as Food Lion, Giant Food, and Stop & Shop. This expansion effort is a result of collaboration with various partners, including the state commerce department, general assembly, regional community colleges, chambers of commerce, and local city governments.

As the fourth-largest grocery retail group in the United States, Ahold Delhaize USA’s investment is expected to have a significant impact on the local economy and job market.
