North Carolina’s August Employment Figures Released

Cardon Rehabilitation & Medical Equipment USA, LLC, a Canadian company specializing in customizable powered treatment tables and exercise equipment, is set to establish its U.S. headquarters in Kinston, North Carolina. The move will create 20 new jobs in Lenoir County and involves an investment exceeding $4 million. Governor Josh Stein announced the expansion, highlighting North Carolina’s appeal to companies that prioritize innovation and opportunity. This development underscores the state’s strengths in manufacturing and its skilled workforce.

Cardon Rehabilitation and Medical Equipment, celebrating its 50th anniversary, will launch a 60,000-square-foot facility in Kinston to support its growing U.S. customer base. CEO Mardig Sevadijian expressed excitement about establishing the U.S. headquarters in North Carolina, aiming to scale production and create a supportive workplace culture. The average salary for the new positions is expected to be $48,965, comparable to Lenoir County’s average wage, potentially impacting the regional payroll by over $979,000 annually.

The expansion is supported by a $60,000 performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund, which aids local governments in attracting economic investments. To qualify for payment, Cardon must meet specific job creation and capital investment targets, with local government participation required. North Carolina Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley and other state officials have praised the expansion as reflective of the state’s strong talent pipeline and business-friendly infrastructure.

Key partners in the project include the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, North Carolina Community College System, and several regional economic development organizations. State representatives and local officials have welcomed Cardon’s investment, viewing it as a testament to Lenoir County’s potential and progress in the manufacturing sector.
