The Milwaukee Brewers have once again proven their mettle by advancing in the playoffs, a feat they celebrated exuberantly at San Diego’s Petco Park. The team clinched the National League Division Series (NLDS) with a sense of achievement, amid celebratory beer showers and the pop of sparkling wine bottles, each labeled with the names of different Wisconsin cities. The Brewers are set to return to Milwaukee with an optimistic outlook as they prepare to face the formidable Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend. This marks another chapter in what has been the most successful run in the franchise’s history. After last year’s disappointing sweep by the Dodgers in the National League Championship Series (NLCS), the Brewers are determined to face the challenge head-on and aim for a better outcome.

The Brewers’ narrow triumph over the San Diego Padres in the NLDS, with four games decided by a total of five runs, has only bolstered their confidence. “I think we have a different type of confidence and belief in ourselves together as a team,” says center fielder Garrett Mitchell, who played a crucial role in Game 4. “It’s just like a quiet, subtle confidence… everyone believes.” More on their tense win.

Milwaukee’s eighth playoff appearance in nine seasons shows their growing tenacity. The team finally broke a 12-game road postseason losing streak that dated back to 2018, outplaying the Padres by holding them to three hits while executing key plays. “That team right there can beat anybody in baseball,” Brewers manager Pat Murphy remarked about the Padres.

With the Dodgers as their next hurdle, the Brewers are more prepared than ever to make a significant playoff push. Having won a franchise-record 103 games during the regular season, Milwaukee has increased their win total for the fourth consecutive year and secured their fourth straight NL Central title. This season, they bested the Padres, who were formidable contenders with 19 wins in 22 games at the end of the regular season.

Despite both the Brewers and Padres having yet to secure a World Series title in their 58-year histories, Milwaukee now stands just eight wins away from breaking their drought. The Brewers are optimistic about their chances against the Dodgers, confident that their strategic planning will help them succeed. Game 4 starter Robert Gasser summarized their mindset: “Tonight is about us, but tomorrow we’re making a plan… We’ve got all hands on deck, and we’re ready to go.”
