Young Student Makes Significant Diaper Donations to Local Families
October 5, 2026
A remarkable initiative by 12-year-old Sloan has brought over 30,000 diapers to families in need, stemming from her motivation to aid a local organization facing shortages.
At the age of 7, Sloan embarked on a visit to Nourish Phoenix in Arizona with her mother to assist in preparing food boxes for the community. During their visit, they were shown an area designated for diaper storage, only to find it alarmingly understocked.
Recognizing the dire need, the staff explained to Sloan how diapers quickly deplete as they are expensive and perennially required. This revelation inspired Sloan to propose a heartfelt idea to her mother on their ride home.
“Mom, we should get some diapers and bring them back for Nourish Phoenix.”
This simple notion gave birth to Sloan’s Diaper Drive. Initially, Sloan’s efforts collected about 7,000 diapers through contributions from family and friends. Rather than ceasing there, she chose to establish this as an annual event.
Five years onwards, this endeavor has blossomed into a community-wide effort. Most recently, Sloan, now in seventh grade, managed to gather an astounding 30,326 diapers, delivering them to Nourish Phoenix in a fully loaded U-Haul—the largest donation of its kind for the organization.
Diaper needs are especially pressing as government assistance programs do not typically cover such items. Nourish Phoenix, offering food, clothing, hygiene products, and job support, frequently receives requests for diapers, highlighting their importance.
Thanks to Sloan’s ongoing annual initiative, many families no longer face the dilemma of choosing between diapers and other essentials.
“Thank you to our community for showing up in such a BIG way!” exclaimed Sloan following this year’s achievement. “With your incredible support, 30,326 diapers were delivered to Nourish Phoenix today.”
What began as a simple observation by a young girl has transformed into a life-changing tradition, aiding thousands of families each year. It started with one simple question: What can I do to help?
