End of an Era: Terrapin Beer Ceases Production in Athens
In a bittersweet turn for craft beer enthusiasts, Terrapin Beer Company, a staple in Athens for nearly a quarter of a century, is set to halt production at its local brewery by the end of this month. Co-founders John Cochran and Brian “Spike” Buckowski reflect on their journey and the impact Terrapin has had on the Southeast’s craft beer scene.
Despite the cessation of production, the Athens taproom will continue to welcome patrons, while the brewery’s facilities transition to serve as a hub for shipping and storage. To commemorate the end of this chapter, John, Spike, and the Terrapin team invite the community to a farewell event at the Athens location on Friday, September 25th, from 3 to 9 p.m.
