Athens residents have a chance to weigh in on the design plans for the city’s upcoming Judicial Center during a meeting scheduled for this Tuesday evening. The Mayor and Commission’s Agenda Setting Session will be open to public input regarding the proposed site designs and other agenda matters.
At a previous Work Session on September 8, two different site plans were revealed. One design provides more on-site parking for public use after hours, while the other aims to conserve the Athens Moon Tree, a historic tree grown from a seed that traveled to the moon on the Apollo 14 mission in 1971, by reducing parking space.
The final decision on which plan to move forward with is set to be made by the Mayor and Commission on October 6. However, the designs will first be discussed at the Agenda Setting Session at City Hall on September 15 at 6 p.m. Residents can share their feedback either through an online form or in person during the meeting.
