Hemant Desai Takes on Key IT Leadership Role in Athens-Clarke County
In a significant leadership move, Hemant Desai has been named the chief information officer (CIO) and director of the Information Technology Department for the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government. This appointment, announced by government manager Bob Cowell, is set to begin on September 26.
Desai brings with him a wealth of experience, having served over two decades in technology leadership roles. His notable past positions include being the CIO for the International City/County Management Association, as well as the Guilford County Government in North Carolina.
Holding a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Maharaja Sayajirao University in India, Desai furthered his expertise with an MBA in technology management from the University of Phoenix. Additionally, he is certified by both the Project Management Institute and Microsoft, enhancing his credentials in the field.
While Desai prepares to assume his new responsibilities, Jason Luzinga is currently fulfilling the role of interim CIO.
