Nebraska Volleyball Prepares for High-Stakes Exhibition Tournament
Nebraska’s volleyball team is gearing up for an exciting exhibition tournament, as they head to Arlington, Texas, for a major showdown on Thursday. This event, known as Spikes Under the Lights, promises thrilling matches and a lucrative prize.
The Huskers are set to battle Florida at 7 p.m. Central time, kicking off a night of intense competition. Following this match, Penn State will take on SMU. The victors from these initial games will advance to the tournament championship, slated to begin around 9 p.m. Central. The stakes are high, with the winning team set to receive a $1 million prize.
Once the exhibition concludes, Nebraska will quickly pivot to regular season play. Their first opponent will be UNLV in a match scheduled for Saturday at 9 p.m. Central, taking place in Las Vegas. The top-ranked Huskers will remain in Las Vegas for a highly anticipated Sunday afternoon clash with No. 2 Texas.
Reflecting on last season, Nebraska had a remarkable run, securing victories in their first 33 games. However, their journey was halted in the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Tournament by Texas A&M, who went on to claim the national championship.
This year, Nebraska’s lineup includes four senior players who have been instrumental over the years: setter Bergen Reilly, outside hitter Harper Murray, middle blocker Andi Jackson, and libero Laney Choboy. Additionally, promising underclassmen like Olivia Mauch, Teraya Sigler, and Virginia Adriano are back, having made significant contributions to Dani Busboom Kelly’s inaugural team in 2025.
