Airbnb.org and United Way Offer Relief to Families Displaced by Fires
In a significant relief effort, families affected by fire-related devastation now have access to temporary housing solutions through a collaborative initiative. Those whose homes are damaged or who are currently evacuated can apply for accommodation credits to book an Airbnb stay.
The United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS) has teamed up with Airbnb.org, a nonprofit established by Airbnb, to provide emergency shelter during crises such as fires.
Blake Pang, the President and CEO of UWNNS, emphasized the importance of ensuring these families have a secure place to sleep, stating, “Having a place to sleep shouldn’t be another thing impacted families should have to worry about.”
Eligible individuals can reach out to several community partners to apply for these accommodations. These partners include Catholic Charities, Nevada 211, the American Red Cross of Northern Nevada, Washoe County School District’s Family Resource Centers, and the Nevada Area Council.
