Thousands Impacted in Washoe County and Reno-Sparks Indian Colony
An estimated 3,700 residents from Washoe County and members of the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony are facing challenges due to recent events affecting their food security. The state has acknowledged the impact on these communities and is taking steps to address the issue.
Deputy Administrator Kelly Cantrelle emphasized the significance of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) during these times, stating, “SNAP benefits help families put food on the table, and losing food purchased with those benefits creates an additional burden during an already difficult time.”
Residents affected by these disruptions are encouraged to submit applications by Friday, Aug. 28. Applications can be completed by visiting a Nevada Division of Social Services office or by calling 775-684-7200.
