Greene County has taken a significant step forward by being chosen as the latest Archway Partnership community by the University of Georgia. This initiative aims to link local leaders with UGA’s wealth of expertise and resources to tackle the needs identified by the community itself.
In the upcoming months, a series of listening sessions, surveys, and work groups will be conducted to help residents, organizations, and leaders pinpoint key priorities. These priorities will potentially influence future projects in areas such as economic development, housing, health care, and more.
This collaboration is set against the backdrop of Greene County’s recent strides in growth, including downtown improvements and educational initiatives like the Portrait of a Graduate. The county’s established connections with UGA through programs such as the Cooperative Extension further strengthen this partnership.
Stacy Jones, the vice president for public service and outreach at UGA, highlighted the importance of aligning the university’s resources with community needs, noting, “We are so pleased to welcome Greene County as an Archway Partnership community.” She pointed out that successful partnerships are based on listening and matching university expertise with local challenges.
“Through Archway, we match university expertise and resources to help meet community-defined challenges. We look forward to supporting Greene County as it builds on its many strengths and creates new opportunities for the future,” Jones added.
