Small Business Experience Propels Timko in Pennsylvania State House Race
Scott Timko, a small business owner, is leveraging his entrepreneurial background in his campaign for a seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Despite his business encountering tax issues, Timko remains confident in his ability to influence state policy, emphasizing tax reduction and regulatory reform as his key objectives.
Timko’s campaign is focused on the Aug. 18 special election for the state’s 12th District. In conversation with the Butler Eagle, he stated, “The best thing for the economy is for people to keep as much of their money as possible.”
Together with his spouse, Timko has managed several dining establishments in Cranberry Township, such as Vocelli Pizza and J. Gumbo’s Cajun, under the limited liability company GotGumbo LLC.
Public records from the Butler County Prothonotary reveal a concerning financial situation, with Timko and his spouse each facing a $32,174 tax lien due to debts associated with GotGumbo LLC. As of July, the company has accumulated $42,471 in unpaid state taxes.
In the past, GotGumbo LLC has faced similar issues, making payments totaling $18,877 between 2021 and 2024 to address existing liens.
Timko has openly discussed his interest in aviation, noting that the small airplane he flies might be registered to GotGumbo LLC. He remarked, “I have a small plane. It’s almost cheaper for me to fly to Harrisburg than it is to drive on the turnpike.”
Competing against Timko in the election is Democratic candidate Brandon Dukes.
