New Issue Preview: Hope & Expectations in Positive News Magazine

Taking a steer from hope. What to expect in the new issue of Positive News magazine

In the dawn of a new year, many of us are pondering on the key areas to focus on and the guiding principle to drive us through 2025. With a vast array of issues at hand, such as the misuse of power and its disastrous consequences, climate disruption, and the overwhelming influence of technology on our day-to-day lives, it might be tempting to focus on the negatives. However, why not shift your perspective this year and draw inspiration from our undeniable power of compassion, creativity, contribution, resilience, and hope?

For those geared with this approach, this year is packed with invigorating stories of individuals and initiatives that strive to make a difference. A noteworthy trend that has been largely overlooked is the increased parental involvement of modern fathers with their children as compared to their predecessors. While parenting in today’s world is challenging and complex, the potential positive impact of this change is immense.

We’re thrilled about the commendable ambition of Home Kitchen, a fine-dining restaurant in London run by individuals who have faced homelessness. We admire the courage of the ‘ghost-hunters’, volunteer divers who risk their lives cleaning abandoned fishing gear from the UK’s harsh coastal waters. We’re excited about the increasing emphasis on nature rights, which grants inherent rights to ecosystems and species.

While it’s easy to dwell on the current state of affairs, what truly inspires us for 2025 are the individuals who are putting their potential and wisdom to work for positive change. Among them are Amanda Knox and Anthony Ray Hinton, who have faced severe trials and emerged triumphant. Both have been wrongfully incarcerated and later exonerated, with Hinton spending nearly 30 years on death row.

Why not draw inspiration this year from our undying power to care, create, contribute, overcome challenges, and march forward with hope?

During her time in prison, Knox resorted to practices like meditation to assert control over her situation. As she puts it, “Grounding ourselves firmly in reality opens us up to possibilities we wouldn’t recognise when we’re focused on the obstacles that make us feel helpless and trapped.”

We’re delighted to share the stories of individuals who have decided to focus on positivity and cherish their lives. These individuals harness their hope and act as a beacon for others. We hope their stories will inspire you and provide guidance for the months to come.
