Georgia’s Secretary of State Probes Voter Registration Mailings
Georgia is in the spotlight as Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has initiated an inquiry into the activities of Ready to Register and other similar organizations. These groups are under scrutiny for allegedly sending voter registration materials to individuals who have passed away or are otherwise ineligible to vote.
The investigation comes after multiple reports surfaced about voter registration mailers reaching deceased residents across Georgia, with one notable instance involving the family dog of a deceased person. The Secretary of State’s office is currently determining if these mailings breach any state regulations.
In the lead-up to significant elections, it is a common practice for third-party voter registration entities to engage in extensive mailing campaigns. However, this incident raises concerns about the accuracy and legality of such mailings.
Georgia residents who wish to verify their voter registration status can do so by visiting the Secretary of State’s My Voter Page.
