St. Mary’s Thrift Store Surpasses $3M in Sales, Celebrates 19 Years

St. Mary’s Auxiliary Thrift Store surpasses $3 million in sales

Athens Thrift Store Celebrates Milestone with Over $3 Million in Sales

In a remarkable achievement, the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary Upscale Thrift Store in Athens has reached over $3 million in total sales. This accomplishment coincides with the store’s 19th anniversary, as announced by hospital officials this week.

The thrift store, established in 2008 on West Broad Street, was an initiative by members of the St. Mary’s Auxiliary who saw the potential for a high-end resale shop in the community. From its inception, volunteers have been the backbone of the store, managing all aspects from donation collection and sorting to pricing and sales.

St. Mary’s Hospital reports that the store has contributed roughly $1.5 million in net proceeds towards enhancing hospital services and patient care. These funds have been instrumental in acquiring medical equipment, improving healthcare accessibility, and alleviating costs for patients without insurance or with inadequate coverage.

The store’s latest milestone was celebrated on May 8, with an event recognizing the volunteers who make it all possible. St. Mary’s officials continue to encourage community involvement through volunteer opportunities and donations.
