Athens Area Diaper Bank Receives $200K for Service Expansion

Athens Area Diaper Bank to receive funding from Ossoff, Warnock

Significant Funding Boost for Athens Area Diaper Bank

The Athens Area Diaper Bank is set to enhance its operations thanks to a $200,000 funding allocation from Sen. Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock. This financial injection is anticipated to broaden the organization’s reach and improve its services.

Erin Campbell, who serves as the founder and executive director of the Athens Area Diaper Bank, expressed optimism about the impact of the funding. “About half of those funds will go directly towards the purchase of diapers, so our community will see an immediate effect,” Campbell noted. “And then, the other half of the funding is just to grow our space, so our capacity.”

The diaper bank collaborates with over 40 local agencies, facilitating easier access for families to obtain diapers while they receive other services, as detailed on their website. With plans to expand their storage capabilities, the organization aims to distribute even more diapers annually.

This funding is part of a broader bipartisan legislative effort that was enacted on February 3, aiming to enhance healthcare services throughout North Georgia.
