Georgia’s New Legislation: Economic and Tax Reforms Take Center Stage

In a significant move to bolster Georgia’s economic landscape, Governor Brian Kemp has enacted a series of legislative measures. Among these, a key highlight is the reduction of the state income tax rate, as detailed in HB 463, which sees the rate dropping from 5.19% to 4.99%.

“For us affordability is not some election year issue that we suddenly discovered,” Governor Kemp stated. He emphasized the continuous commitment throughout his tenure, as well as during the Deal and Perdue administrations, to initiatives such as tax reduction, job growth, and budget balancing. Kemp added, “We have never wavered when it comes to cutting taxes, promoting job growth, maintaining a balanced budget, and helping all Georgians succeed no matter their zip code.”

In total, Governor Kemp signed nine bills into law, all aimed at enhancing the state’s economic framework and providing tax relief to its citizens.
