Advanced Voting Draws Thousands in Athens-Clarke County Ahead of Key Election
As the advanced voting period nears its conclusion, the Athens-Clarke County election department reports that over 4,600 residents have already participated in the early voting process for the upcoming May 19 General Primary and Nonpartisan Election.
Additionally, the county has distributed approximately 800 absentee ballots, with more than 300 of these returned and prepared for counting. This early engagement underscores the community’s keen interest in pivotal local races.
In-person early voting will continue to be available until May 15, offering voters ample opportunity to cast their ballots ahead of the official election day on May 19. This election is crucial as it will decide the party nominees for several significant positions, including the next mayor of Athens-Clarke County, commissioners, and members of the Clarke County School District Board of Education.
