House Ethics Committee Probes NC Rep. Chuck Edwards for Allegations

Rep. Chuck Edwards allegedly under investigation by House Ethics Committee

Investigation Launched into North Carolina Congressman Chuck Edwards Amidst Allegations

The U.S. House Ethics Committee has initiated an investigation into Congressman Chuck Edwards from Western North Carolina. The investigation details remain undisclosed, sparking curiosity about the nature of the allegations.

According to information acquired by Axios, a legal representative from the committee indicated that Chairman Michael Guest, R-Miss., and ranking member Mark DeSaulnier, D-Calif., have sanctioned the ethics team to delve into “allegations involving Representative Chuck Edwards.”

While the precise allegations were not initially revealed, CNN later highlighted that the investigation pertains to claims of sexual harassment, citing sources with knowledge of the situation.

Addressing the investigation, Edwards conveyed confidence in his team’s conduct, stating, “I welcome any investigation, given the professionalism my staff has demonstrated and my commitment to serving the people of Western NC.” He further suggested that, “Given the current political environment we are facing in our nation, it comes as no surprise that others with their own political agendas will attempt to raise false accusations in order to create news stories.”

The Ethics Committee has refrained from making any public statements regarding the investigation.

Edwards is the representative for North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District, an area encompassing Asheville and much of the surrounding mountainous region. He is campaigning for reelection this November against Jamie Ager, a Democrat, farmer, and small business owner from Fairview.
