Kirby Park to Host Lady A and En Vogue for Pennsylvania’s 250th Celebration
As part of Pennsylvania’s grand celebration of its 250th birthday, renowned music acts Lady A and En Vogue are set to perform a free concert on June 20 at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre. This event is one of five concerts in the Commonwealth Concert Series, celebrating Pennsylvania’s pivotal role in American history.
The concert series, funded through the state’s 2025-26 budget, aims to unite communities across Pennsylvania with live music and regional celebrations. The initiative, spearheaded by America250PA and the state government, seeks to create engaging opportunities for residents to connect with their heritage. “The question becomes, how do you celebrate something so big, something that belongs to every Pennsylvanian?” said America250PA Executive Director Cassandra Coleman.
Concert Line-Up and Regional Celebrations
Governor Josh Shapiro and Cassandra Coleman announced the concert schedule at Hersheypark Stadium, highlighting the series’ diverse line-up:
- May 23: Cole Swindell headlines with Gabby Barrett and the Benny Havens Military Band at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College.
- June 6: The Fray and First to Eleven perform at Erie Insurance Arena in Erie.
- June 13: The Avett Brothers take the stage at Hershey Park Stadium.
- June 27: Nelly and Third Eye Blind co-headline at Point State Park in Pittsburgh.
Coleman emphasized that “each stop will reflect the unique character and energy of its region, and more importantly, the people who define it.” In State College, the event honors military members, veterans, and first responders. Erie’s concert celebrates historical preservation, while Hershey’s honors agriculture. In Wilkes-Barre, healthcare professionals will be recognized, and Pittsburgh will celebrate educators and innovators.
