Guilford County spotlights Black maternal health

Guilford County Hosts Health Fair Amidst Rising Infant Mortality Concerns

As part of the annual Black Maternal Health Week, community efforts are underway in Guilford County to tackle the pressing issue of infant mortality. This weekend, Every Baby Guilford is organizing an interactive health fair designed to bridge gaps in resources, education, and support for maternal health.

Guilford County reports an infant mortality rate of 9.2 deaths per 1,000 live births, surpassing both state and national averages. Alarmingly, Black infants represent 70% of these cases, highlighting a significant disparity that the health fair aims to address.

The event will take place on Saturday at Center City Park in Greensboro, starting at 11 a.m. Participants will have access to a variety of resources aimed at improving maternal and infant health outcomes.
