PPL Electric Utilities’ Transmission Project Update: Open House Postponed

In a recent development, PPL Electric Utilities has announced the postponement of their scheduled open house concerning a transmission project in Lackawanna County. The event, initially set for March 31, will be rescheduled due to factors beyond the company’s control. As per an email from the utility, “PPL Electric Utilities has been notified that the Archbald Mountain Open House, previously scheduled for March 31, will need to be rescheduled due to circumstances outside of PPL Electric’s control. We are working to identify a new date and location and will notify the community as soon as those details are confirmed.”

The utility company remains committed to maintaining an open line of communication with local residents. “PPL Electric remains committed to engaging directly with residents and providing an opportunity for open dialogue about planned transmission work in the area. We look forward to that conversation and appreciate the community’s patience,” the email further emphasized.

PPL has plans to create a new substation, switchyard, and transmission lines near a proposed data center site in Archbald. For further details, visit the project’s dedicated website: www.PPLArchbaldMountainProject.com.

While PPL Electric Utilities does not disclose the identities of new customers, the company confirms that it frequently receives service requests. They have not confirmed whether these requests pertain to the data centers proposed in the area.

Before commencing the project, PPL will need to secure approval from the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. For specific inquiries, residents can contact PPL Electric directly at EUArchbaldMountainProject@pplweb.com.
